Thank you to Dr. Hall!
A special thank you to Dr. Hall, the Department Head of Civil Engineering at the University of Arkansas, for letting members of AEA come present at this mornings business meeting for the Academy! It means a great deal to us to have such supportive faculty give us opportunities like this to spread the word about what we are doing. The presentation was giving this morning at 9:00am by Jenny Doyle, Sara Johnson, and Nick Timberlake. Our very short presentation was a teaser to bring awareness to our group as well as become a showcase to the Academy of how, "student initiative is still alive today," amongst the students in engineering at the University of Arkansas (Jenny Doyle, Member of AEA).
We left a business card for anyone who was interested in finding out more about our group at the back of the room. If you by chance picked up a card at the presentation, thank you for taking the time to visit our site and taking an interest in our organization. To find out more information about our group check out the tabs on the left hand side of our page!
If we did not get to answer your question please contact us by email at: Arkansas.engineers.abroad@gmail.com

Check out our new tab! We will be posting the minutes for the disscussions that our project team is doing under the Design Discussions tab.
These minutes are recorded in the weekly Skype meetings that our Project Ambassador, Harrison Laws, and Project Co - Ambassador, Alex Moix, hold with the Ben Marts.
Ben Marts has worked on the design plans for the project since day one. These meetings are crucial for the AEA team in finishing the project. Ben Marts will be finishing the Water Tower Design and sending the plans out for bid from the contractor that we are in contact with in Belize. Once the tower is completed we will be able send some of our team back to complete the project in its entirety by designing and completing a piping network that will run from the water tower to the church and to the school.
The minutes go through the exchange of information and planning processes the team talks about in the weekly Skype meetings. Meetings are held every Monday and we will try and post the minutes accordingly the following Tuesdays.
Any questions about the project plans please contact us at Arkansas.Engineers.Abroad@gmail.com

We have a fantastic opportunity on our hands; the Northwest Arkansas Naturals are partnering with us to raise funds. We are selling tickets to their (Sunday) April 29th game that starts at 2:00pm. The Naturals play in Springdale, so they're right in our backyard. The Naturals are promising us a portion of the sales we make to go towards the fundraising we have left.
We need to sell as many tickets as possible and we hope you can help us! Invite friends and family to come join us for a fun day at the park!
Anyone who is interested can contact Zach or any member of AEA they know. Zach's information is as follows:

I hope everyone is having a great semester thus far. Arkansas Engineers Abroad will be having a meeting Wednesday February 29th at 6:00 pm in Bell 2268. AEA has had a few meetings already to kick off the year but we are hoping to really get things started with this next meeting. We recently spread the word about our group and our past trips to Freshman at the FEP recruiting fair in the Civil Lounge. We are inviting any new and interested members we have met this new semester to participate in our next meeting.
Most of our current members went on our last trip to Belize this past December and did we mention to you all that it was COMPLETELY FUNDED?! We have always done our own fundraising for all of our trips but this last semester we were really able to step things up. We have raised over $11,000 from many events we hosted last semester as well as gathered funding from various departments in engineering. And did we mention YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE A CIVIL ENGINEER to join AEA. We love having many different disciplines at our fingertips because each one of us thinks in a different way.
The agenda for the meeting is as follows:
Starting at 6:00 pm, Brad Ziegler, an executive with the Naturals, will be coming to talk to us about a fundraising opportunity with a lot of potential! Last year, the Naturals helped different organizations raise over $100,000!
Hopefully we can show the final T-shirt design as well as talk about other fundraising opportunities we have going on for this semester.
After, we would like to invite all new and current members of AEA and be there for officer elections. As a new and developing organization we would like to keep the elections open even for new members to have the right to VOTE. We will be adopting a new Constitution, written by one of our members Cody LaBarber, as of Wednesday to send in for our RSO paperwork. New members my nominate or cast a vote for any of the current members. Once you have been an active member for a semester we would then love for you to run as well.
We are looking forward to growing as an organization! We will update our blog with our new officers who have been elected by a majority vote this Wednesday.
